Privacy Policy

What is Trivet?

Trivet is a meal planning app that helps households organize recipes, plan weekly meals, and generate grocery lists.

What data we collect

When you use Trivet, we collect:

• Account information: email address, display name, and optional profile photo
• Preferences: dietary restrictions and cuisine preferences
• Content you create: recipes, meal plans, and grocery lists
• Usage data: basic analytics to understand how the app is used

Third-party services

We use the following services to run Trivet:

• Firebase (Google): authentication, database, file storage, and hosting
• OpenAI: recipe parsing from URLs and photos
• Google Places: restaurant search for going-out suggestions
• Expo: push notifications and app updates

How we use your data

We use your data to:

• Provide the core service: storing recipes, generating meal plans and grocery lists
• Improve recipe recommendations based on your preferences and history
• Send push notifications about household activity (meal proposals, shared recipes)

Data sharing

Your recipes, meal plans, and grocery lists are shared with members of your household. If you use the friends feature, shared recipes are visible to the friends you choose. We do not sell your data to third parties.

Third-party services

Trivet uses the following third-party services to provide its functionality:

• Firebase (Google) — authentication, database, file storage, hosting, and push notifications
• OpenAI — recipe parsing from photos (images you upload are sent to OpenAI for ingredient extraction)
• Google Places — restaurant search when proposing to go out
• Expo — push notification delivery and app updates

These services process data on our behalf and are bound by their respective privacy policies. We do not sell or share your personal data for advertising purposes.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we permanently remove your personal data, recipes, and associated content within 30 days. Server logs and backups may retain anonymized data for up to 90 days.

Your rights

You can:

• Access your data through the app at any time
• Correct your profile information in Settings
• Delete your account and all associated data from the Profile screen
• Export your recipes by contacting legal@trivet.app
• Opt out of data processing for recommendations by disabling suggestions in Settings

California residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

• Know what personal information we collect and how it is used
• Request deletion of your personal information
• Opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell your data)
• Not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights

To exercise these rights, delete your account in the app or contact legal@trivet.app.

Children

Trivet is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Terms of Service

User accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Each person should have only one account. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.

Your content

Recipes, meal plans, and other content you add to Trivet belong to you. By using the service, you grant Trivet a license to store, display, and process your content in order to provide the service. You can delete your content at any time.

Acceptable use

Please use Trivet respectfully. You agree not to:

• Send spam or harass other users
• Upload harmful, illegal, or abusive content
• Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
• Use the service for any purpose other than meal planning and household coordination

Household sharing

When you join a household, your recipes and meal plans are visible to all household members. Shared recipes sent to friends are visible only to those friends.

Limitation of liability

Trivet is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages resulting from your use of the app, including lost data, missed meals, or incorrect recipe information.

Account termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You can delete your own account at any time from the Profile screen.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify users through the app. Continued use of Trivet after changes constitutes acceptance.
